As long as a team is still playing their season, there is always another story. Now an update on the Malden sport stories we’re following  in May at Neighborhood View:

Coach Marty Horkan led his Mystic Valley Regional Charter School Boy’s Lacrosse team to a victory vs. Nashoba Regional on 5/13/14. Besides being the MV Eagles 13th win of the season, it is Coach Horkan’s 100th career win. Only 300+ more wins to catch up to hall of fame Coach Rick Mazzei. Congratulations Coach Horkan!

The Springfield College Pride was knocked out of the NCAA Div. III tournament in the 2nd round with a loss to SUNY Cortland 14-10 at SUNY Stadium in Cortland, N.Y. Malden’s Dom Roberto was held to 1 shot in the loss.

#1 ranked Limestone College defeated Queens by a score of 17-6 in the NCAA DII Quarterfinals. Limestone faces Tampa in the Semifinals on 5/18/14 at Saints Field in Gaffney, S.C. Limestone graduates 11 seniors this year which means more playing time for next year’s incoming sophomores including Malden’s Blake Ferry.

Her family’s home was completely destroyed and her cousin went into labor when the earthquake started. Her baby son was born the day after the earthquake and she is now living in makeshift housing under tarps with her husband, the new baby and her two other children. “I thought of my half brother and his wife who had a baby right after the 2010 earthquake and were living in the same kind of situation,” Lamour said. “The baby died because of the breezes and the germs that are not conducive to a baby’s health. But I didn’t tell [my cousin] that.” The enormity of Haiti’s suffering can overwhelm any sense of actionable empathy; the island nation has suffered from two massive earthquakes in the last decade and a recent presidential assassination. ELECTION 2019: Questions for the Candidates: Week 1 of 5 – Transparency

By Prisco Tammaro The 2019 elections in Malden are approaching. The Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019. To provide Malden voters with information, Neighborhood View will run a series of “Quality of Life” questions and answers with the city council and mayoral candidates.  Suggestions for questions were provided via Facebook on a Malden (MA) Politic’s poll; 10 questions were formulated by the moderators in consultation with Neighborhood View and sent to all  candidates. Each candidate was given 150 words to respond to each question. Every effort was made to reach out to every candidate.
